Abstract

Diantara jalan masuk liberalisasi pendidikan adalah liberalisasi pengetahuan. Salah satu perangkat intelektual penting untuk melakukan hal yang disebut terakhir adalah sosiologi pengetahuan, yang mengasumsikan historisitas semua pengetahuan. Ia ditujukan untuk memahami asal-mula sosial dari pengetahuan tertentu. Telihat di sini karakter antroposentris dari sosiologi pengetahuan. Tulisan ini ditujukan untuk membedah pemikiran salah satu penggagas utama sosiologi pengetahuan, Karl Mannheim, dengan membacanya dalam terang gagasan islamisasi pengetahuan, terutama sebagaimana digagas oleh S.M.N. al-Attas. Dari pembacaan ini diharapkan dapat ditunjukkan beberapa poin yang dapat menjadi pijakan bagi islamisasi sosiologi pengetahuan.
